Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton imagined a rite of passage for her man this season. Marrying the British fashion house’s signature skull motif with images of lace dollies, Burton evoked the Victorian age but with a dark twist. Balancing light overcoats and tailored jackets with baggy shorts, the collection was reflective of a controlled tension between traditional and modern design ideas.
Bringing together the tidiness of a structured double-breasted jacket with the nonchalance of a raw hem on sleeves, Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection presented key elements for today’s dandy.
