The Marina Bay Waterfront was lit in a multicoloured glow as the i Light Marina Bay Festival started last Friday night. Running till 30 March, members of the public can look forward to interactive and multicoloured light projections with a total of 28 light sculptures and installations have been set up by artists from 11 countries, including China, Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Singapore.
Besides viewing the installations, festival-goers can also take part in a range of activities, including free guided tours, bazaars, educational talks and boat tours.
The three-week festival will be powered by energy savings from a "Switch off, Turn up" campaign, that is meant to offset the energy and power used by the light installations.
This campaign runs in tandem with the festival, and was introduced to encourage stakeholders around Marina Bay to switch off non-essential lighting and turn up air conditioning temperatures during office hours.
This year's festival will also coincide with Earth Hour Singapore's "light-off" activities, which take place on March 29.
