Schiaparelli, the label first established by the late Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli (1890-1973) had been placed in the charge of Marco Zanini tasked with reviving the Parisian house, today presented its 2nd collection since 1954 at Haute Couture Week in Paris. Featuring in the Fall/Winter 2014/2015 couture collection were oversized sleeves and chunky shoulders in fur, as well as a recurring heart motif, sometimes lovestruck with arrows and bleeding.
Infused as well into the designs was an Art Deco vibe, with giant satin bows, hats and headpieces worn at jaunty angles, and elaborate silhouettes. The retro decadence was matched with leopard print pieces and crocodile leather skirts, belts and jackets. There were also butterfly and pigeon prints on silk, with 'ES' initials in sequins.
