Fendi Roma 90 Years Anniversary Fashion Show at Fontana di Trevi
By SENATUS News | 8 July 2016

On the occasion of its 90th anniversary, Fendi showcased its latest creations on a runway made of acrylic over Rome's famed Fontana di Trevi. 46 outfits which included dresses in pale pink, blue and cream, adorned with hand-stitched flowers or starlit scenes were inspired by Danish fairytale illustrator Kay Nielsen, who painted colour plates for the book Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Andersen in 1924 and also later worked for Disney, including on sequences of the film Fantasia.

Glittering evening gowns with slits up the sides, dresses nipped in at the waist, bell skirts, the house’s trademark fur coat as well as a patterned cape, in grey silk, were amongst the womenswear highlights. Accessories-wise, bags looked like they were made of fur but were actually tiny pieces of silk, sown together to look like snakeskin.

The finale saw designer Karl Largerfeld alongside the Italian house’s accessories designer Silvia Venturini Fendi, acknowledging the 200-strong guests.
