In his 200th Formula One start, Nico Rosberg took victory at the 2016 Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday and regained the championship lead from MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 teammate Lewis Hamilton;
The German driver held on to beat a fast-finishing Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull by just four tenths of a second at the Marina Bay street circuit. Ricciardo, on fresher tires, cut Rosberg’s lead from 25 seconds with 13 laps left to under a second but fell just short of preventing Rosberg from taking his first victory in Singapore. Meanwhile Hamilton took third place, narrowly in front of Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen.
Rosberg’s third successive win has taken him back to the top of the drivers’ championship, eight points ahead of Hamilton with six races left.
