By SENATUS News | 30 January 2017

Iris of France bested 85 women from all over the world to win the crown. First runner-up is Raquel Pelissier of Haiti, and second runner-up is Andrea Tovar of Colombia.

A college student pursuing her dental degree, Mittenaere succeeds Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, the third Filipina to win the title. She brings home the second Miss Universe win to her country. The last time Miss France won in the pageant was in 1953 when Christiane Martel was crowned Miss Universe.
