Named after the 'Tourist Trophy' motor race held at the Isle of Man in the early 1910s, and in recent times embodying the concept of ‘Technology & Tradition,’ the all-new Audi TT Coupé is now available in Singapore and currently on display at Audi Centre Singapore.
The re-energised update has made the 3rd-generation TT even more impressive
It comes as no surprise that the new-look TT has already nabbed the highly sought-after first prize in the "Transportation and Public Design" category of the 2014 German Design Awards.
The latest edition (in silver below) is modern and sleek interpretation of the first TT launched in 1998 (red), and later updated in 2006 (blue).
Several key developments make the TT the sportiest and most innovative in its class
On the front, Audi’s latest Singleframe Grille gives the TT a more angular, muscular and imposing presence worthy of its sporting heritage, harking back to the 1960s when the NSU competed in the TT races.
The TT also employs intelligent multimaterial hybrid construction to achieve a lighter weight than the previous editions. The front end and floor assembly are made of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel components, while the superstructure comprises aluminum castings, extruded sections and panels.
quattro® comes standard
As Audi fans have come to expect, the TT also comes standard with the latest generation of the permanent all-wheel drive — with quattro® stamped proudly in the front and rear, offering superiority to peers in the same class all of which only offer rear-wheel drive.
From the side, the TT is evocative of its predecessor from the wheel arch intersecting the hood join, to the tornado line flowing from the door to the rear.
The subtle kink in the rear window eloquently draws the eye to the C-pillar in a flourish.
Matrix LED headlights are "three-dimensional, dynamic and interactive"
Audi’s outstanding reputation as the leader in the automotive lighting technology is demonstrated in its matrix-layout of LED headlights, using electronic and software solutions to allow the TT to intelligently "see" vehicles in front of it and adjust its high-beam light in such a way that it illuminates the road without blinding other drivers — all this within milliseconds.
The Audi virtual cockpit is the only amongst its peers
Innovative technologies found in the TT’s control and display concept is another world’s first. The 12.3-inch thin-film-transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display replaces the analog instruments and MMI monitor altogether.
The digitally-displayed speedometer and the tachometer form a classic configuration in the foreground in driving mode (left above) and recedes to the sides in infotainment mode (right).
The hyper quick TT uses the maximum torque in its class
Harnessing the ability to produce up to 380 Nm of torque, the Audi TT 2.0 TFSI can achieve an unmatched level of driving responsiveness.
With 6-speed S-tronic as standard, running on 230 hp, the TT goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h. It is without a doubt a driving machine for the bold and the daring, to navigate the road less travelled.
