Eco-Conscious Collection by Poko Pano

Inspired by the world’s eco-conscious efforts, the 2010 Poko Pano Collection celebrates Brazil’s most beautiful and natural attraction, The Amazon.

The collection was a way to show people, “that you can find beauty from things we take for granted in our daily lives,” says Poko Pano designer Paola Robba.

Paola captured the rainforest by using natural colors to create one-of-a-kind prints.  “Since fashion has such strong exposure, it’s a great avenue for social responsibility,” the designer says.

Part of the proceeds of the Guarana print bikini will be donated to the World Wildlife Federation to help the organization continue its work in preserving the Amazon rainforest.

2010 marks over two decades of achievement for Poko Pano in Brazil and beyond. Poko Pano was launched in Brazil in 1988 and became known for its creative styles featuring innovative handiwork – embroidery, knitting, macramé and needlepoint – that showcase the infamous craft talents of the Brazilian people.

In 2002, Poko Pano was invited to participate in São Paulo Fashion Week, establishing it as one of the best swimwear brands worldwide. Poko Pano has since been repeatedly featured in the prestigious show.

In 2005, Poko Pano entered the U.S. market and quickly became a press and celebrity favorite. The brand has earned recognition on the pages of magazines like Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and Sports Illustrated, with supermodels and celebrities including Mischa Barton, Marisa Miller, LeAnn Rimes and Elle MacPherson modeling the swimwear.

Since 2008, Poko Pano collections have been showcased on the São Paulo Fashion Week runway as well as the Mercedes Benz Fashion Swim Week in Miami, Florida (watch video below).

The Poko Pano brand can now be found in hundreds shops worldwide, and in over 20 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, France, Monaco, Israel, Italy, Greece, Switzerland and the UK and online boutiques, such as Butterflies and Bikinis.
