SINGAPORE IndoChine Group was proud to host the President of the Republic of Timor Leste, H.E. Dr. Jose Ramos Horta, for dinner at the Waterfront Restaurant, IndoChine Empress Place, Sunday, 26 May 2008.

President Ramos-Horta is co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1996 for his work "towards a just and peaceful solution to the conflict in East Timor."

Largely through the efforts of Dr. Ramos-Horta as spokesman for the East Timorese Resistance from 1975-1999, East Timor became the world's first new sovereign state of the 20th century having gained independence from Indonesia in 2002.

The President's visit to Singapore over the weekend was his first trip outside of his home country since the attempt on his life in February 2008.

The IndoChine dinner was attended by VIPs including IndoChine Group CEO Michael Ma, Diane Fay Founder Camilla Hall, and Melissa Kwee, Founder of Halogen Foundation.

The dinner event coincided with the Singapore Arts Festival, to which guests witnessed riverside pyrotechnics to celebrate the Festival's opening.
