384 Pages of 45 Editorials and 48 Supermodels in Chanel

The new photo book 'Northern Women in Chanel' showcases an incredible array of Chanel designs, worn by top Scandinavian and Baltic models, including Carmen Kass, Theres Andersson, Ginta Lapina, Freja Beha Erichsen, Helena Christensen, Sigrid Agren, Siri Tollerod, Frida Gustavsson and Caroline Winberg

The book, available from today at Farago Publishing's online store, is a collaboration between photographer Peter Farago and his wife, stylist Ingela Klemetz-Farago. The 384-page tome includes 45 beautiful editorials shot worldwide featuring 48 supermodels from the Nordic and Baltic countries, took a full year and a half's work.

A dream for both Peter and Ingela — the book came about after the pair shot some fashion ads and editorials for the design house. Over lunch with the CEO of Chanel's Baltic division, they pitched the concept, and Chanel was immediately on board, offering full access to pieces from both the label's current collections and archives,  Prêt-à-Porter (Ready-to-Wear) and Haute Couture.

After the first two shoots for the book, Peter and Ingela were given free rein by the publisher from then on to conceptualize and produce the book's images.

In addition, all the models, agents, hair and makeup stylists, and other assorted assistants working on the book gave their services for free, which attests the belief and conviction on the purpose of the project - to exhibit an aesthetic flair for fashion but also a desire to convey a sense of humanity..

Chanel muse Freja Beha Erichsen bagged the cover, and Karl Lagerfeld "blessed the book with a poetic preface inspired by the images," Ingela said.

All profits from the book, which is limited to 2112 copies, as well as profits from a touring exhibition of the photos will go to Save the Children charity foundation and the building of girls' schools in Baltic countries specifically.

Though the exhibit is currently in Stockholm at Fotografiska through September, there are plans to take it worldwide.
