Panerai's Luminor Due 3 Days Automatic Exude Simplicity and Sporty Elegance

10 January 2019

The Panerai Luminor Due is a contemporary reinterpretation of that classic model from the ’50s. The new version has a slimmer case and a modern in-house movement with a micro-rotor for automatic winding.

The new Luminor Due 3 Days Automatic (PAM00943), launched alongside its sibling the Luminor Due 3 Days GMT Power Reserve Automatic (PAM00944), represents the synthesis between the old and the new, the historical and the contemporary, none more so down to the references inside.

Created by the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, the Luminor Due 3 Days Automatic is 45 mm in diameter, features an eye-catching anthracite dial and the advanced technology of the P.4001 automatic calibre.

Encased in AISI 316L stainless steel, of just a few millimetres thick, the timepiece showcases everything we have come to love about the watch - from its clean lines to the iconic bridge device which protects the winding crown.

The anthracite dial, with small seconds counter and date, has the classic Panerai design and a satiné soleil finish which endows this very elegant watch with a decidedly sporty spirit. The sandwich structure of the dial, with its two superimposed discs containing the luminous beige substance of the hour markers, makes it extremely legible under all lighting conditions as well as in the dark.

The Luminor Due 3 Days Automatic (PAM00943) sports a 3-day power reserve indicator, circular and viewable through a sapphire crystal porthole positioned on the case back. It is water-resistant to 30 metres.

Inside, the P.4001 movement is 133⁄4 lignes in size, with an off-centred micro-rotor made of tungsten and two spring barrels. The balance oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and it is firmly fixed in position by a bridge with twin supports, which help to make the structure of the calibre strong and reliable.

In addition, a seconds reset mechanism stops the balance and zeroes the seconds hand when the time is adjusted, so that the watch can be accurately synchronised.

The Luminor Due 3 Days Automatic is available with a brown alligator strap with contrasting beige stitching.
