Amber Chia is a Malaysian model, who began her modeling career at seventeen, after being discovered in Kuala Lumpur. Amber gained international fame after being selected as one of fifteen finalists in the 2004 Guess Watches Timeless Beauty Contest, and for being voted Best Top Model by the Malaysian International Fashion Awards in 2004 and 2005. 

This 25 year-old is now the face behind L'oreal, Sony, Stila and many more. One of her most defining features is her pouty lips, which are not typically found in ethnic Chinese Malaysians.

When did you start modelling and why?
At the age of 18 years-old. It has always been my dream to be a model since I was a little girl and I decided to try it out. It is my first job and I've been in it for the past seven years.

Busy, exciting, sexy, cool and friendly.
What makes you stand out from others?
I'm a girl with directions, someone who knows what I want. I don't care what others think. I'm positive and happy. I'm just being me.
How do you normally plan your holiday trip?
Research the cities or countries that I want to go on the web or ask my friends for their feedbacks. Also, I will learnt to say "Thank you" in the appropriate language.
Which destinations have you been to?
Taipei, Indonesia, Los Angeles, New Zealand, Italy etc. I am going to India end of March.
What is the craziest thing you've done while oversseas?
Bungee jumping and sky diving in New Zealand
Did you try any sorts of weird cuisine while travelling? How was the experience?
So far not yet but I've tried the most expensive sushi in Japan, which cost me SGD 500!
List us some of the best restaurants you've been too.
I can't remember but I do know that Italy's pizza is the best! Everybody should try that when they visit Italy!
What do you love most about travelling?
I love the fact that I can get to know more people and learn about their different cultures.
What do you hate most about travelling?
Packing the luggage and knowing for a fact that I can't shop to my heart's content without overloading the luggage!
Did you experience any nasty incidents?
I had food poisioning when I was in Indonesia after eating from a street food cart.
Do you prefer to travel alone or with company? Why so?
I love having 2 - 3 company because it's more fun this way and you get to share your experiences with someone.
What are the three things that a tourist should know before leaving for their destination?
The culture of the country, the people and the types of food.
What's the best city to visit for a week during the summer?
I guess I don't have a particular place in mind but if one wants summer, Asia is the best place to visit as it has so many beautiful tropical islands.
Other than modelling, what else are you doing?
I believe that beauty is not forever and I won't be modelling forever. So I decided to set up my own business with a friend that deals with second-hand branded bags, which is now located in Kuala Lumpur.
