TUDOR is Official Timekeeper for Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018

20 July 2018

Two seven-minute halves. Seven player per team, all ready to give it their all.

A classic rugby pitch, the game which we traditionally know is usually played between two teams of 15. The 7-a-side game is a redefinition of rugby standards through its entirely different way of managing space. The space on the field, coupled with the number of players participating creates an ultra-physical, ultra-rapid and ultra-daring style of play.

With very few interruptions to the game, scrums or line-outs, the sport rely on explosive power, versatility and the ability to push the boundaries. The result is a very intense game that electrifies spectators with its rapid changes of direction and breathless phases of play.

The 7th edition of the competition will be held for the first time in the United States, where the sport is rapidly gaining momentum. San Francisco is set to be the host city, with matches held at the famous sea-front Giants stadium, where the baseball pitch transformed for the occasion.

On the weekend of 20 to 22 July 2018, 24 men's teams and 16 women's teams will compete for the title of Rugby World Cup Sevens champions under TUDOR's chronometric supervision as Official Timekeeper.

The participating teams include the All Blacks Sevens and the Black Ferns Sevens, proud representatives of New Zealand and one of favourites to triumph in the contest. The 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens final saw the All Blacks Sevens triumph over England with a 33-0 win - an unprecedented result for teams of this calibre.

In particular, the Black Ferns team dominates the women's game like no other. Both teams are also TUDOR ambassadors as part of the brand's partnership with the New Zealand Rugby Union.
