Cosset: Chic Comfort with Eco Conscience

25 April 2011

What women want in their everyday basics is simple – clothes that make getting dressed a breeze, and moreover, feel great when worn.

Cosset’s incredibly comfortable bamboo basics are luxuriously soft, breathable, cool and absorbent.

Why bamboo? Because apart from bamboo being a rapidly renewable resource (it’s one of the fastest growing plants and requires little or no herbicides and pesticides to thrive), fabrics made from regenerated bamboo cellulose (known as viscose from bamboo) have some special natural properties.

Bamboo fabric is durable and will withstand many washes. It is also lightweight, breathable and extremely soft to the touch – with a texture akin to silk or cashmere jersey.

What’s more, bamboo fabric has natural moisture wicking and thermal regulating properties so you’ll feel cool and comfortable throughout the day.

Cosset’s basics feature reusable, recyclable packaging made from either recycled cardboard or organic cotton. Cosset’s clever knicker boxes feature a beautifully illustrated box where the lid of the box flips over to reveal dividers that help keep its underwear contents neat and tidy. Tank tops come with a unique cardboard hanger packaging.

Choose comfort with a conscience, choose bamboo.

Cosset can be purchased online or in Singapore: Retail Therapy (Wheelock Place) and Avan:j (Pacific Plaza) and in Bangkok: Cloud 9 (Gaysorn Plaza)

About the Founder - Cosset's founder, Sarah Tan, is a member of the SENATUS network.

She was formerly the Editor of Female magazine and Editor-in-Chief of now defunct luxury women's magazine Cake.

After 5 years covering the fashion industry and writing about "what women want", she left publishing in 2008 with a smile and a wave and a simple idea: chic, comfortable fashion basics with an environmentally conscious slant.

She spent the following year researching suitable sustainable fabrics and toying with reusable packaging ideas. In late 2009, Cosset was born and began making low-key appearances at boutiques in Singapore and Bangkok.
