Tiffany & Co. Archival Exhibition at the National Gallery in Singapore
By SENATUS News | 27 October 2016

Tiffany & Co. celebrates its heritage as a global luxury house with a showcase of exquisite jewelry creations and a first-time exhibition of archival timepieces in Singapore.

Tiffany exhibits its watch archival collection in Singapore for the first time. Since 1847, Tiffany has made clocks that chimed in the halls of 19th century mansions, pocket watches that kept time on trains crisscrossing the frontier, to wristwatches worn by United States presidents, sportsmen and celebrities. This exhibition will tell the story of the brand’s watch making heritage as well as showcase masterpieces from Tiffany’s archives, including the “Apple Blossom Lapel Watch”, a diamond and enamel creation by chief designer Paulding Farnham.

Other highlights include elegant diamond and platinum timepieces in the striking “Cocktail Style”, circa 1939, which have become inspirations for today’s Tiffany’s cocktail watches. Visitors may also look forward to viewing two watches introduced in the 20th century that were inspired by the country and city where Tiffany was founded. These watches are the Streamerica®, which reflects the gleaming forms and metallic surfaces of the 1930s American industrial design movement, as well as the Atlas Watch, circa 1983, a tribute to the iconic nine-foot Atlas clock, installed by Charles Lewis Tiffany in 1853, which today still stands above the entrance of the flagship Tiffany store on New York’s Fifth Avenue.

This collection of powerful and bold timepieces, symbolic of New York City’s energy and innovation, and Tiffany & Co.’s modern watch collections will be on display at the National Gallery from 26 to 30 October 2016.
