The architecture of time has undergone a revolutionary shift. IWC Schaffhausen unveils the Perpetual Calendar IWC-ProSet™, a milestone that marks a new era for one of the most demanding complications in fine watchmaking. Building upon the legendary legacy established by Kurt Klaus in 1985, the next generation of engineers has delivered a breakthrough in both precision and usability.

The defining achievement of the IWC-ProSet™ is its seamless bidirectional adjustability. For the first time, a completely synchronised and gear-based design allows the wearer to move the calendar both forward and backward as intuitively as setting the time. This eliminates the need for corrector buttons or complex menus, relying instead on a patented quick-correction function operated solely through the crown. As Chris Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen, explains, "Protected by several patent applications, this groundbreaking innovation radically redefines how a perpetual calendar is set and operated".

This mechanical evolution debut is housed in three distinct expressions of the Big Pilot’s Watch. The "Le Petit Prince" editions offer a poetic nod to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, featuring deep blue dials and a gold-plated rotor medallion depicting the Little Prince on his asteroid.

One version is encased in 42.9-millimetre white zirconium oxide ceramic paired with a white rubber strap, while another is presented in a 42-millimetre stainless steel case with an integrated bracelet and a blue rubber strap option. Both utilize the EasX-CHANGE® system for effortless transitions between styles.

A third iteration brings a luxurious warmth to the collection, pairing a 42-millimetre 18-carat 5N gold case with a dark olive green dial and an olive green buffalo leather strap. Regardless of the exterior, each timepiece is powered by the IWC-manufactured 82665 calibre. This movement features the high-efficiency Pellaton winding system and high-tech ceramic components, ensuring the intricate rhythm of the calendar remains robust and reliable.

The pursuit of precision extends to the celestial, as the moon phase display has been recalculated to achieve a staggering level of accuracy. IWC’s signature Double Moon display, showing the lunar cycle for both hemispheres, now deviates from the moon’s actual orbit by just one day every 1,040 years. Through this fusion of micro-engineering and heritage, IWC Schaffhausen has ensured that the complex geometry of time is as effortless to wear as it is beautiful to behold.
