For over twenty years, Roger Dubuis has placed the legend of King Arthur and the sword Excalibur at the heart of its watchmaking identity. In 2026, the Maison opens a new chapter by sharing this epic saga from a feminine perspective. The Excalibur Lady of the Lake is a faithful interpretation of this vision, exploring the many facets of Viviane, the powerful and mysterious guardian of the sword.
Viviane reigns over an underwater kingdom hidden away in the Brocéliande forest, moving between the visible and the invisible. In this new interpretation, Roger Dubuis turns its focus to her strategic mind and independence. She is a figure who possesses great knowledge and strategically guides the destiny of heroes, guarding the Excalibur sword away from the world of men until the moment is right.
The timepiece is housed in a 36mm rose gold case shaped like a jewel, reflecting a daring aesthetic and technical execution. The Sovereign Grey dial serves as a symbol of armour, conveying Viviane’s courage and strength of character. These shades of grey evoke both her chivalry and the indestructible weapon forged in the enchanted world.
On the dial, multiple layers reveal a universal narrative. In the centre sits a pure, iridescent heart of white mother-of-pearl enclosed in gilded brass. This is surrounded by a dark rhodium coated plate with a sunray finish that brings depth to the scene. At six o'clock, a small seconds counter decorated with a snailed effect brings a refined balance to the theatrical conception of the dial.
The hour and minute hands are crafted in rose gold like swords, marking the time against three-dimensional indexes. Roger Dubuis has crowned the case with its signature fluted bezel, set with 48 diamonds of exceptional clarity. The polished angles of the case contrast with brushed satin-finished surfaces, accentuating the luxurious quality of the rose gold.
The Sovereign Grey alligator strap features a pearled effect that matches the main colour of the dial. On the caseback, a transparent sapphire glass reveals the mechanical heart of the watch. The automatic calibre RD830 is composed of 183 components and features high-end finishes like Côtes de Genève and a snailed effect.
By choosing an automatic movement like the RD830, Roger Dubuis places mechanical audacity and legitimacy at the heart of its feminine timepieces. An open-worked oscillating weight in 22k gold further highlights the Maison's quest for excellence. The Excalibur Lady of the Lake stands as a testament to the unexpected fusion of distinctive character and watchmaking expertise.
