Magic Lotus Automaton by Jaquet Droz

3 September 2019

Inspired by a zen garden, Magic Lotus Automaton combines craftsmanship and mechanical skills, and invites meditation and contemplation within the settings of animated fauna and flora coming to life in breathtaking detail in this luxurious showcase of artisanal techniques.

In an animation of extreme miniaturization by Jaquet Droz, the Koi flaps its tails, creating the illusion that it is swimming through the water. It also moves vertically up and down, enabling it to move in the flowing river and dive beneath the Lotus leaves.

The caseback features bridges and oscillating weight hand-engraved with naturalist motifs, with carp and Lotus flowers echoing the carvings on the dial side.

Subject of four patents pending, this exceptional automatic movement contains more than 500 components. Its balance wheel beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a power reserve of 68 hours.
